An imprinter, is a very useful tool if you intend to process card payments when an electronic terminal isn't viable or available.
Most retailers don't realise that an imprinter can be a valuable form of protection against chargeback's.

As a retailer, if you ever have to manually enter the customers card number (by 'pan' keying) into your electronic terminal whilst the customer is present, you must take and retain an imprint of their card to prove the customer was present at the point of sale. Failure to do this can lead to a chargeback being upheld if the customer ever queries the transaction (regardless if the transaction was actually genuine or not).
